Sage Exploration (Pre-K to Grade 3)

Each week of Sage Exploration delves into an exciting theme that sparks your child’s curiosity Copy of SummerOlympicsTorches1 300x216 Sage Exploration (Pre K to Grade 3)and encourages a love of learning. Participants work with same-aged peers in the morning, immersed in experiential learning that enhances the weekly theme. Lessons and projects are taught through an integrated approach, incorporating STEAM (Science, technology, engineering, arts, math) and Humanities (literacy, history, social studies), in ways that will inspire discovery.

The afternoons provide an opportunity for children to apply what they have learned through a variety of traditional day camp activities, including outdoor exploration, play, special visitors, and creative projects led by our experienced staff.

Week 1: July 10 – 14

Aquatic Odyssey: Under the Sea

Dive headfirst into the delightful world under the sea! When you think of the ocean, do you think of a big blue mystery? Explore the oceans from the deepest depths to the shallowest reefs. Appreciate the many marine life forms and the roles they play in the different ecosystems below our waters. Campers will use STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) skills to study the ocean realm, discover the most valuable players under the sea, and be amazed by the diversity of sea life. Join us on a weeklong expedition to unravel the mysteries under the sea!

Week 2: July 17 – 22

Inventor’s Lab: Innovation & Discovery

Move over Einstein, the next brilliant discovery may come from a Sage camper! Explore the world of physical and natural sciences, where each project or activity challenges you to think critically, problem solve and work in teams.  Engage in the creative exploration of  technology, engineering, science, history and the arts,  ask questions, and discover the answers for yourselves while having fun! Explore the engineering process as you learn about simple machines and engage in hands-on design activities. This program is perfect for the budding scientists who loves making and tinkering, building and construction, and mixing in test tubes while exploring their natural world.

Week 3: July 24 – 28

Global Adventures: Around the World

Embark on a journey around the world! Don’t worry, you can pack light for this trip! Experience music, dance, art, cuisine, and culture from different places around the globe while collecting and creating souvenirs along the way! No previous experience necessary! Enter a world of fun as grand and creative as your imagination that takes you to lands both near and far! Campers will embark on a cultural journey that includes the exploration of nature, music, history, foreign languages, art, exercise, science, math, and literature. Come explore the wonders of the world. Bon Voyage!

Week 4: July 31 – August 4

Animal Planet: Predators & Prey

Camouflage! Spikes! Slime! Whether using stealth, strength or speed, animals have unique ways of protecting themselves out in the wild. Come learn about animal self-defense and how animals are the ultimate warriors! Join us as we trek across the continents to explore some of the most fascinating animals with games, stories and  activities. Investigate the physical and behavioral adaptations of animals and how they help animals survive and meet their basic needs. Enjoy a week-long journey into the world of exotic and endangered animals, learn about how animals affect the ecology, and the importance of preserving their habitats through hands-on activities. Don’t miss this awesome week of animal antics!

Our staff consists of teachers from The Sage School and the surrounding community who are certified educators and experienced leaders. They are selected for their passion for teaching children and their commitment to lifelong learning. For the safety of all participants, CPR and first-aid certified individuals are on staff.

Dates & Time
Summer Sage runs for four weeks in July to the beginning of August. Parents are able to choose the weeks and topics that align with personal schedules and childrens’ interests. It is not mandatory to sign up for all four weeks.

Our day begins at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 3:00 p.m.. For an additional fee, we offer an extended day program that runs from 8:00 – 9:00 a.m. and again from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. Participants enjoy organized games, outdoor play, and free play led by counselors. Pick up may occur at any time during this extended period.

Enrichment Session
Students spend their mornings immersed in topics that follow the weekly theme. Lessons and projects will be taught using an integrated approach, incorporating math, literacy, history, science, art, music, technology, and more. Students will utilize the school’s many resources, including our Science Lab, Media Room and computers in order to engage fully in the learning experience.

Enrichment Activities
What is a summer program without sports and games, dance, and arts and crafts? The afternoon will provide an opportunity for children to apply what they learned in the morning session through non-competitive physical activity, outdoor exploration, and creative activities lead by our experienced staff.
