Junior Library
Philosophy
The library program at The Sage School is designed to help students develop an understanding of and appreciation for a broad range of literature and research materials. The program also supports the schools curriculum and the literary interest of the students.
Content
- During their visit to the library junior students will work on classroom assignments as well as activities to enhance or enrich the instructional program.
- Students will identify various material and their use, e.g. biographical dictionary, geographical dictionary, almanac etc.
- Students will identify various search engines and learn how to make more effective Internet searches using the tutorials Sink or Swim and Web Search Strategies.
- Students will also be able to use the library for recreational reading.

- Understand the library cataloging system
- Understand the Dewey Decimal System
- Identify forms of literature
- Identify and use various reference materials
Materials
Biographical dictionary, almanac, geographical dictionary, periodicals, atlases, various fiction and nonfiction books.
