Physical Education

The philosophy of The Sage School Physical Education Program is to develop life-long habits for a physically fit and active lifestyle. The goal of physical education is to provide, through movement and activity, enrichment for the mental, social, and physical development of the students. A variety of activities will be used in physical education including traditional sports, variations on traditional sports, and games designed specifically for this class catered to Prime, Junior, and Middle School levels.

The Sage After School Athletics Program

The Sage After School Athletics program includes boys’ soccer, girls’ field hockey, boys’ basketball, girls’ basketball, and co-ed Lacrosse. Practices run for three different 10-week seasons. Teams meet twice a week after school from 3:30-5:00 p.m. Participants are taught the fundamentals of skills, game strategies, positioning, sportsmanship, and team work. Currently the program is intramural in nature.

The Athletics program is open to all Sage students in fifth grade and higher. The expectation for physical fitness and performance is set much higher for the athletics teams. In addition to game skills, team members are also trained for the rigors of athletic competition.

The Athletics program offers Sage students the opportunity to train in a team sport and develop both the mental and physical skills needed for participation at higher levels. Participants are challenged to push themselves as an individual and as a teammate. The current offerings by season are:
