Summer Program Returns to The Sage School – Register now!
The Sage School will welcome back its summer program from July 19 – August 13. Open to children between the ages of 4-11, this summer day program is dedicated to providing enrichment and traditional day camp activities for inquisitive and motivated youth during the summer months.

The Sage School has "Gone Google"
While many teachers struggle to get their kids’ heads out of the clouds, The Sage School is making it easier for their students to get there. By partnering with Google Apps for Education, the independent K-8 school has given its community access to a powerful suite of productivity and communication tools that exist entirely online—within the “digital cloud.”

Class of 2010 Graduation
On Friday, June 11 at 9:00 a.m., The Sage School will hold the commencement ceremony for the Class of 2010. The ceremony will be held in the school’s Windsor Wing.

The Sage School Theater Company Presents a Production of Disney’s Alice in Wonderland Jr.
On Friday, May 28 at 7:00 p.m., The Sage School Theater Company will present a production of Disney’s Alice in Wonderland Jr. The show will be held at the Foxboro Orpheum Theatre located at One School Street in Foxboro Center. Tickets will be sold at the door and are $3 for children and $5 for adults.

Cluster Week at The Sage School
During the week of May 10 – 14, The Sage School will celebrate one of its most anticipated annual traditions called Cluster Week. This week is filled with special elective classes for students in the school’s Prime and Junior Divisions (grades Pre-K-5) such as “Mural Mania,” “American Sign Language,” “Clay Animation,” “An Introduction to Adobe Photoshop,” “Top Dog Biscuit Company,” “Heat Energy and the Laws of Thermodynamics,” “Sweet Creations” and “Sage Legal: Advocacy Skills and Mock Trials.”

Sage Students Perform Well on the National Spanish Exam
Congratulations to the many Spanish students from The Sage School who attained national recognition for excellent performance on the 2010 National Spanish Examinations!
Students from The Sage School earned a total of 4 gold, 7 silver and 8 bronze medals along with 7 honorable mentions. "Attaining a medal or honorable mention for any student on the National Spanish Examinations is very prestigious," said Kevin Cessna-Buscemi, National Director of the Exams, "because the exams are the largest of their kind in the United States with 125,915 students participating in 2010."

Scholar Search Associates and The Sage School will host an Open House for gifted students and their families on Sunday, April 11 from 1:00-5:00 p.m. at The Sage School. 5th-8th grade students and families are invited to attend.

The Sage School Announces New Assistant Head of School Effective July 1
It is our distinct pleasure to announce the appointment of Sarah Kotwicki as the Assistant Head of School effective July 1, 2010. After a national search, Sarah was chosen for her depth of experience, outstanding communication skills, leadership ability, understanding of independent school life, and, most importantly, her obvious knowledge of and love for elementary and middle school students. We are fortunate to have found such a talented and experienced school leader who is also such a great fit for the Sage community.

Sage Students Excel at the 2010 Hurvitz Cup Tournament
On Sunday, March 7, 23 students from The Sage School participated in the Hurvitz Cup, the State Team Chess Championship. The school had three teams compete in the K-3 and three teams in the K-6 divisions.

Two Sage Students Moving on to National MathCounts Competition
On Saturday, March 6, six Sage students participated in the Massachusetts MathCounts state competition held at the Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston. Two Sage students, Zachary P. and Lucas H., placed second and fourth respectively, and will now move on to the MathCounts national competition on May 6 and 7 in Orlando, FL.

Winter Luau at The Sage School
On Saturday, February 20 from 7:00-11:00 p.m., Sage will host a festive luau with live entertainment by Polynesian Dance Productions. This is sure to be a fun evening for parents, faculty, board members, and other friends of The Sage School.

Sage Mathletes Take Home Six Trophies at the Metrowest MathCounts Competition
On Saturday, February 6, eight middle school students –Main Team members: Zachary P., Bary L., Lucas H., and Shannon H.,and Alternate Team members: Harris D., Benjamin P., Scott J., and Miryam A. - represented The Sage School at the MetroWest Chapter MathCounts competition held at The Meadowbrook School of Weston.
Approximately 180 students from twenty-six middle schools participated in the four rounds. For the fourth year in a row, The Sage School’s main and alternate teams did a spectacular job, finishing in first place in their categories, far above the second team, and allowing Sage to advance to the State competition in Boston next month.

Dr. Howard Gardner to Speak at The Sage School
Dr. Howard Gardner, Hobbs Professor of Cognition and Learning from Harvard University, will speak at The Sage School on Thursday, January 7, 2010 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Dr. Gardner’s research into giftedness beyond IQ was the initial impetus for the recognition of multiple forms of intelligence which has now been recognized and integrated into most gifted and talented education programs. He remains an active researcher and speaker on this area. He will speak on "A Multiple Intelligences Approach to Human Gifts and Creativity."

Sage Students Excel at Model United Nations Conference
The Sage School’s Model UN Club participated in a conference held at Northeastern University on Saturday, November 21. Sage received the Best Delegate award for two categories – Security Council (represented by students Sydney P. and Maya J.) and UNICEF (represented by students Rohit C. and Shannon H.).

Grandfriends' Day at Sage
On Wednesday, October 21, 2009, Sage will host its annual Grandfriend's Day. This day is a Sage tradition filled with opportunities for grandparents and other adults to experience some of Sage's academic programs and, most importantly, to visit with the children.

Fall Foliage Chess Festival to be Held at The Sage School
On Sunday, October 4, The Sage School will be hosting the annual Fall Foliage Chess Festival. This is the first qualifier for the Spiegel Cup, the State Scholastic Chess Championship.

On Friday June 12, The Sage School held the commencement ceremony for the Class of 2009. The seventeen graduates are attending a mix of secondary schools including public, independent, and boarding.

Sage Middle School Student Wins Spanish Award
Seventh grade student, Shannon H. won a first place award at the 2009 National Spanish Exam Awards Banquet at Regis College on May 28. The Honorable Carlos Robles Fraga, Consul General of Spain in Boston, presented the awards to the top performers. Shannon received a perfect score on her exam.

Middle School Math Club Celebrates Successful Year
The Middle School Math Club participates in several math competitions throughout the school year including AMC8, AMC10, New England Math League, MathCounts, and the Middle School Math Olympiads (MOEMS). During the 2008-2009 school year, the team, led by Math Department Chair Dr. Lydie Labaudinière, has had impressive finishes in many competitions.

Sage K-6 Chess Team Wins 2009 Hurvitz Cup
The Sage K-6 Team-A brought the Hurvitz Cup first place trophy back to Sage this year for the K-6 division. Members of this team included Clara W., Bary L., Matthew L., and Nicholas P. There were 18 teams competing in this division. The Sage team won all four of their rounds with a total of 15 points.

Impressive Finish for Sage Student at the Massachusetts Scholastic Chess Championship
At the Massachusetts Scholastic Chess Championship held on February 8, middle school student, Bary L. won 2nd place in the age 11 and under division. Bary was invited to compete, after winning the first of four qualifying tournaments last fall.

Sage’s Middle School Math Team Advances to the MathCounts State Competition
On Saturday, February 7, eight middle school students - Joe B., Kevin P., Charlotte D., Nikita K., Anita K., Lucas H., Zachary P., and Bary L.- represented The Sage School at the MetroWest Chapter MathCounts competition held at the Walsh Middle School in Framingham. Approximately 200 students from twenty-eight middle schools participated in the four rounds.

The Sage School Celebrates Grand Opening of Windsor Wing
The Sage School hosted a ribbon-cutting event for its new arts and athletics facility, the Windsor Wing, named in honor of Katherine G. Windsor who served as head of the school from 1998-2008. The grand opening celebration was held at the school on Thursday, November 20.

Faculty and administrators from The Sage School are working closely with educational leaders across New England to plan the 14th Annual New England Conference on Gifted and Talented Education which will be held in the neighboring town of Mansfield, MA, October 17-18, 2008 with a pre-conference site visit at The Sage School on Thursday, October 16, 2008.

The Sage School Welcomes Tim Monroe as Head of School
Tim Monroe officially began his appointment as fourth Head of The Sage School on Tuesday, July 1, 2008. In February, Tim was the unanimous choice of the Head Search Committee, and their recommendation was unanimously endorsed by the Board of Trustees.

Sage Student Cooks Up Winning Recipe
Sophie P., a Sage third-grader, won the grand prize of a $10,000 savings bond in the “Kitch’N Kids with 3-A-Day of Dairy” recipe contest with her Snowy Casserolly dish. The contest was sponsored by Stop & Shop, 3-A-Day of Dairy, Cabot, Dannon, and Garelick.
